Biovail Corporation (NYSE:BVF)(TSX:BVF) announced today that it has officially launched Cardizem(R) LA in the U.S. Launch elements include physician detailing, sampling, marketing and promotional activities. Biovail, in conjunction with the Company’s co-promotion partner Reliant Pharmaceuticals LLP, has approximately 800 sales representatives that have been fully trained and are well prepared to discuss with physicians the potential benefits of Cardizem(R) LA in the effective treatment of hypertension.

Cardizem(R) LA is a novel, graded-release formulation of diltiazem HCl that provides 24-hour blood pressure control with a single daily dose and offers physicians a flexible dosing range from 120mg to 540mg. Cardizem(R) LA is the only product labeled to allow administration in either the morning or the evening. With evening administration, clinical trials have shown Cardizem(R) LA increased reduction in blood pressure in the early morning hours, which is when patients may be at the greatest risk of significant cardiac events.
